Police Make Two Drug Arrests During Traffic Stop

Mahanoy City Police made two drug arrests as a result of a traffic stop.


According to Police Chief Kenneth Zipovsky, around 8:30pm Saturday, Police conducted a traffic stop near 10th and East Centre Street in the borough.

A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Tammy Casserly, 45, of Mahanoy City.

She was found to be in possession of approximately a 1/3 ounce of methamphetamine, various quantities of 4 other controlled substances, and numerous other items indicative of the sale of drugs.

She was charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, 2 counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Casserly arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer and was committed to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $50,000 straight cash bail.

A second individual, Shawn Lazer of Barnesville, PA was also taken into custody by police.

Lazer faces a Misdemeanor charge for Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
