Man and Juvenile Charged with Assaulting and Slashing Another Man with Knife

A man and juvenile female are locked up in Schuylkill County Prison after assaulting a man and slashing him with a knife.

According to Pottsville Police Chief Richard Wojciechowsky,  on Tuesday July 9, 2019 around, 12:15am, Officer Tina Sullivan was assisting a disabled vehicle in the area of East Norwegian Street and South Jackson Street when she was handed a cell phone that a female had found lying in the street.

During the investigation to locate the owner of the cell phone, information received led to a 26 year old Pottsville man who was currently at a local medical facility receiving treatment for a laceration on his face that had occurred in an assault a short time prior.

A further investigation revealed that the 26 year old man had gone to 906 W. Race Street with two other people after he had received several text messages requesting he do so.

At that address Saye Nehwon Kilikpo, 29, of Macungie, PA, asked the man to walk to the rear of the house to talk with him.

At the back of the house, Kilikpo pulled out a black handgun from his waistband and put it under the victim’s chin. While Kilikpo was doing this a 17 year old Minersville female juvenile was holding a knife and telling everyone she would stab them if they tried to interfere.

Kilikpo then told the female juvenile to take the victim’s cellphone and wallet which she did. The victim then knocked the gun out of Kilikpo’s hand they both tried to gain control of it on the floor.

The victim then ran out of the house with his two companions and began to get into a parked car.

Kilikpo pursued the victim and as the juvenile female held the car door open Kilikpo slashed the victim across the face with a knife before he and the juvenile fled the area.

Police located the female victim a short time later in a parked car in the 2200 block of West Market Street in Pottsville and she was taken into custody.

Kilipko was located in the 1000 block of West Market Street where he was taken into custody and transported back to City Hall.

Interviews were completed with several witnesses to the Robbery and Assault and after consulting with Schuylkill County District Attorney Mike O’Pake it was determined that the female would be charged as an adult due to the severity of the crimes committed.

Sullivan prepared a criminal complaint charging the 17 year old female with Felony Strong Arm Robbery, Felony Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Strong Arm Robbery, Felony Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Theft by Unlawful Taking, Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession instruments of a crime.

Following arraignment both were committed to the Schuylkill County Prison.
