State Police Identify Body Found in Northumberland County as Missing Lavelle Man

The Pennsylvania State Police at Stonington announced Wednesday that the body found over the weekend in East Cameron Township, Northumberland was identified as a man reported missing from Lavelle, Butler Township, Schuylkill County.

According to Police, on July 4th, 2020 human remains were discovered in a wooded area on Bates Road, East Cameron Township, Northumberland County just west of Helfenstein.

Through an investigation it was learned that the Frackville Barracks, was investigating a missing person, and a clothing description that matched that of the body found.

Northumberland County Coroner James Kelley coordinated with Doctor of Science, Dr. John Owens and his staff in making an identification of the remains through dental records.

Through the clothing description and dental records, Troopers were able to identify the victim as Joshua Phillippy, of Lavelle.

Phillippy had been reported missing since June 16th, 2020.

Police say there is no evidence of foul play involved.
