Schuylkill County Launches Small Business CDBG Assistance Program to Help Small Businesses Recover from COVID-19

The Schuylkill County Board of Commissioners recently announced the release of it's Schuylkill CDBG CV Small Business Assistance Program that will provide financial assistance to small businesses across the county that have been affected by the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.

Applications will be accepted starting August 2nd, 2021.

At the Commissioners Meeting on July 14th, the Commissioners announced that the program would offer up to $15,000 for eligible businesses.

The funding comes from the county reportedly receiving approximately $550,000 in federal Coronavirus aid.

NEPA Alliance, who helped administered Schuylkill County's CHIRP funding has been selected to administer the funding

The criteria to apply are below:

  • Your business is located in Schuylkill County (Excluding Schuylkill Haven and Pottsville).
  • Your business employs at least one full-time (or several part time employees making up 1 FTE) that earns less than $38,300 per year (or $18 an hour).
  • If you are a sole proprietor and have no employees, you earned less than $38,300 in FY 2019
Businesses not eligible
  • Any private or commercial golf course
  • Country Club
  • Massage parlor
  • Hot tub facility
  • Suntan facility
  • racetrack or other facility used for gambling
  • any store, the principal business of which is the sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption off the premises
