Woman Facing Homicide Charges for Killing Husband near Mount Carmel

A woman is facing homicide charges in Northumberland County for allegedly stabbing her husband to death over the weekend.

Around 6:00pm, Sunday, police officers from Mount Carmel and the surrounding communities were called to 21 Back Street in Dooleyville near Mount Carmel for a report of a home invasion.

Police reportedly arrived at the home and found Richard Karlaza on the floor in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck with his wife Lisa inside the home.

A criminal complaint stated that an eight inch kitchen knife was found in a dishwasher with suspected blood on the blade.

An investigation lead police to believe the victim's wife, Lisa, killed her husband and took her into custody at the scene.

Lisa Karlaza was officially charged Monday morning with murder as well aggravated assault and making false reports to police.

Multiple police units from the Mount Carmel area responded to the scene along with the Northumberland County Coroner.
