Coroner Called to Head-On Crash on Route 901 on Friday

For the second time in just as many days, emergency personnel were called to a head on crash on Route 901 in Barry Township.

Just before 6:00pm, Friday, emergency personnel were called to Route 901 in Barry Township near the intersection with Beury's Road for a two car motor vehicle accident with entrapment.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the crash occurred as Ryan Little, 24, of Mount Carmel was traveling east on Route 901 and lost control of his Hyundai Elantra in a heavy downpour and crossed the double yellow line.

Little crashed head-on into a Dodge Caravan from T102 that was carrying the crew heading to cover a high school football game.

State Police say Little was partially ejected out the passenger side front door and sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Schuylkill County Coroner's office.

State Police also said evidence indicated Little was not wearing his seatbelt.

The driver of the van, Charles Hepler, 47, of Frackville, along with his passengers Joseph Shemansik, 43, of Mahanoy City, and Charles Kutz, 53, of Pottsville sustained injuries and were transported by EMS to Geisinger in Danville for treatment.
