Pennsylvania to Mandate Masks for Students in K-12 and Day Cares

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf is expected to announce Tuesday afternoon that masks will be mandated while children are in schools, according to the Republican Herald and multiple other news outlets.

The announcement comes as positive COVID-19 continue to rise across the state as students return to class.

The order is expected to go into placed on Tuesday, September 7th, 2021 as students return to class after Labor Day.

The mandate is not expected to apply to student athletes while they are competing.

North Schuylkill, Schuylkill Haven, and Mount Carmel had already announced mandates for their students to wear masks while in school district buildings.

An official announcement is set to take place Tuesday afternoon at 2:00pm by the Governor.  We will post more details as they come available.
