Minersville Man Charged with Assault, False Imprisonment After Domestic Incident

MINERSVILLE - A Minersville man is facing multiple charges, including assault and false imprisonment, following an incident earlier this summer that left a woman injured.
According to court documents filed by Minersville Police on September 19, 2025, Dakota Zakashefski, 23, of Minersville, has been charged with two counts of simple assault (M2), one count of false imprisonment (M2), and two counts of harassment (S).

Police allege that on June 3, 2025, Zakashefski physically assaulted his former significant other at his residence on Sunbury Street.

In a written statement to police, the victim reported that when she attempted to leave the residence, Zakashefski locked the door, accused her of being pregnant, and then struck her multiple times in the abdomen. She stated he also pulled her hair, shoved her, and hit her head.

During the assault, Zakashefski allegedly told her, “I hope that he kills my pregnancy if there is one there.” the victim said she was prevented from leaving the apartment for approximately an hour.

According to the affidavit, the victim told police that after unlocking the door, Zakashefski dragged her by the hair around the apartment and pinned her to a bed by her wrists, covering her mouth while continuing the assault. She stated he made further threatening remarks during the attack.

Medical records from UPMC dated June 4, 2025, reportedly confirmed injuries to her abdomen, wrists, elbow, and hands consistent with her statement.

A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko is scheduled for October 21, 2025, at 11:15 a.m.
