Nearly 100 participants took part in the 14th annual Tamaqua Hunger Walk on Sunday, helping to raise $6,200 in support of the Tamaqua Hunger Campaign.
The event, organized by Paul Dodson, marked the conclusion of the fall fundraising effort that benefits local food assistance programs. Walkers included community members, church and civic groups, and Tamaqua Area High School students from the National Honor Society.
The Tamaqua Hunger Campaign provides financial and food donations to four local food pantries — American Primitive Methodist Church, Trinity United Church of Christ, Stokes Ministries, and Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Last year’s campaign raised $18,000 and collected 125 bags and boxes of food, which were distributed among the pantries. Final totals for this year’s campaign, including food collections, are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Donations will continue to be accepted through November 7 and can be made to Tamaqua Hunger Campaign 2025 or by mail at Tamaqua Hunger Campaign, 125 Pine Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252.
