Elevated Wildfire Risk Issued for Schuylkill County and Central Pennsylvania

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Schuylkill County and a large portion of central Pennsylvania, warning of an elevated risk of wildfire spread through tonight.
According to the outlook, issued Thursday morning, dry and breezy conditions are expected to create an environment where fires could ignite more easily and spread more rapidly than usual.

The advisory covers multiple counties across the region, including Schuylkill, Dauphin, Lebanon, Northumberland, Columbia, and others throughout central Pennsylvania.

Meteorologists say the combination of low moisture levels and gusty winds can allow any outdoor fire,  including brush burning or unattended campfires, to quickly get out of control.

Residents are urged to exercise caution with any activities that could spark a fire. Officials recommend avoiding outdoor burning if possible and properly disposing of smoking materials.
