Born in Ashland on March 9, 1941, a son of the late Arthur E. and Naomi A. Gable Hand. He was a 1959 graduate of Tri-Valley High School.
Dennis was a retired lineman with the Commonwealth Telephone Company. After retirement, he worked for several years at MSC Tools, Jonestown.
He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins, and the Tri-Valley Bucktree Archery Club, where he was the former president. He was also a strong supporter of the NRA.
He could often be found in the outdoors enjoying hunting, fishing, and especially archery. Above all his family was the center of his life. He enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren's sporting events.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Taylor Geist..
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Peggy A. Rebuck Hand, four daughters, Pamela Merwine and her husband Gary, Deep Creek; Kristine Lombel and husband Gary, Venice, Florida; Kathleen Rothermel and her husband Michael, Valley View and Susan Geist and her husband Brady, Hegins; eight grandchildren, David and Damaris Merwine, Deanna Lyons, Kylene Rodichok, Logan Lombel, Brandi Rothermel, Liberty and Maisy Geist; six great grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Saltzer and her husband Dale, Harrisburg.
Following his wishes there will be no formal services.
