OBITUARY: Betty M. Cox, 88, of Lewistown Valley

Betty M. Cox
, 88, of Lewistown Valley, PA died on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at home. She was the wife of the late John W. “Jack” Cox to whom she was married 45 years at the time of his death in 1999. 

Born in Tamaqua, PA on June 24, 1934, Betty was a daughter of the late George E. and Dorothy M. (Brewer) Morgan. A 1952 graduate of Tamaqua High School, she was former secretary of the Class Reunion Committee. Betty was employed as a customer service representative for Service Electric Cable TV for 24 years before her retirement on July 1, 1999. She loved spending time with family and could be found shopping at Boscov’s or taking a trip to the casinos. Betty was a member of Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, Tamaqua. 

She is survived by daughter, Nancy Everhart and her husband Harry of Tallahassee, Fl; son John A. “Jack” Cox and his wife, Tami of Rural Retreat, VA, son, David R. Cox and his wife Karen of New England Valley, PA, and daughter, Lori B. Ansbach and her partner Linda Narciso of Nesquehoning, PA; grandchildren, Drew, Keith, Brooke, Celeste, Tyler, Dana; great grandchildren, Jack, Kate, Max, Helen, Ella, Ky; sister, Dolores Boyle of Weatherly, PA; and several nephews and nieces. 

Betty was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy “Cookie” Hain. Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, October 31, 2022, at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home with The Rev. Kevin Roberts officiating. Interment in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown, PA will follow the services. Call 9-11 AM on Monday at the funeral home.
