Janet E. Rehrer, 93, of Pine Crest Village Dr., Pine Grove, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 27, 2022.
Born on September 23, 1929 in Pine Grove, she was the daughter of A. Luther and Edna Moyer Spancake.
She was a 1947 graduate of Pine Grove High School.
Janet had a private kindergarten (Jack and Jill) and later worked as an aide at Pine Grove Area Middle School. She also worked at Moyer's Flower Shop in Pine Grove.
She loved to play pinochle and belonged to several card clubs. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed doing word puzzles and crafts, vacationing in Hilton Head, S.C., and attending class brunches.
Janet was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove, where she served on church council, altar guild, and WELCA Women. She was a 50-year member of the former Mary E. Moore Chapter No. 372 Order of Eastern Star and a member of the board of directors of the Pine Grove Area Alumni Association.
Preceding her in death were her husband Norman L.Rehrer on October 16, 1997; a brother, Richard L. Spancake, Sr.; and a niece Ann Spancake Cox.
Surviving are a daughter, Jane E. and husband Dennis C. Shoop of Camp Hill; a son, Jeffrey L. Rehrer of Pine Grove; a grandson, Bradley D. Shoop of Mechanicsburg; a niece Jan Spancake Rentz, and a nephew Richard L. Spancake, Jr., both of Georgia.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Noon at St. John's Lutheran Church, 222 S. Tulpehocken St. Pine Grove with SALM John Ziegler and Rev. Lloyd Yeager officiating. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 11:00 a.m.. until Noon at the Church. Interment will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Pine Grove Area High School Alumni Association, P. O. Box 46, Pine Grove, Pa. 17963 in her and Norman's memory. In the memo line, write In Memory of Janet Spancake Rehrer and Norman Rehrer.
