OBITUARY: Lois Green Schoffstall, 91, of Gratz

Lois Green Schoffstall
, 91, of Gratz died October 25 at Stonebridge Health and Rehab Center, Duncannon. She was born in Barry Twp. August 21, 1931, a daughter of the late Lula and Harvey Green.

Lois graduated from Hegins Twp. High School in 1949. She was a talented homemaker who through the years always had a project - sewing, crocheting, painting, gardening and especially cooking. She enjoyed entertaining and cooking for large gatherings of friends and family. However, Lois will best be remembered for her love of researching local history and family genealogies. She authored "The Green Family History" and "The Shaffer-Miller Family History." As an active member of the Gratz Historical Society, she spent many years as the museum curator, and donated years of her life to researching and wrote three publications, "A Comprehensive History of Gratz" and 2 volumes of "The History of Lykens Twp." as well as six volumes of "Gratz Memories" books.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Millersburg.

Surviving are her husband of 70 years, Charles A. Schoffstall, three daughters, Debra Henshaw (Tom), Lynne Baer (Jonathan) and Lori Norris (David); a sister Eloise Winfree; 8 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Harvey Green Jr.

A visitation with family and friend will be held on November 5, 2022 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz, a celebration of life service will immediately follow at 10:00 am. Internment will take place in the Gratz Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Lois's memory to the Gratz Historical Society.
