Richard W. Doran, 88, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Tuesday while at Seton Manor Nursing Home.
Born June 20, 1934, he was a son of the late Richard and Ellen Doran.
Richard was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven.
He was a 1953 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School.
After high school, Richard went on to serve in the Navy.
Richard was married to the former Mary Smith on Dec. 23, 1955.
After returning from service, he worked at Haven Casket Co. for a time before spending many years and retiring from Quaker Maid Cabinets in Leesport.
He was a member of American Legion Post 38 in Schuylkill Haven for over 50 years. Richard was also an avid sports fan, cheering on the Celtics, Yankees and Notre Dame.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth.
Richard's wife of 67 years survives him along with their daughters, Brenda, of Gordon, Robin, of Towson, Md., and Donna, of Schuylkill Haven. He is also survived by his sisters, Ellen Miller, of Pine Grove, and Barbara Doran, of Allentown.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Family and friends are welcome to a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of services at Grabowski Funeral Home at Schuylkill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Richard's memory to St. John's United Church of Christ, 121 E. Main St., Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.
