OBITUARY: Thomas Anthony “Shomsey” McGinley, 92, formerly of Ashland

Thomas Anthony “Shomsey” McGinley
, 92, formerly of Ashland passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community.

Born in Centralia on July 27, 1930, he was the son of the late Martin Ignatius and Elizabeth (McGann) McGinley.

He was a graduate of the former Hubert Eichert High School, Centralia.

Mr. McGinley was a US Army Korean War Veteran; he served his country from 1950 until 1953.

Tom was a retired pipefitter and was a member of the United Association of Pipefitters and Plumbers Local 524.

On May 30, 1959, in St. Joseph’s Church, Ashland, he married the former Lorraine Colahan who survives.

He was a member St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Ashland and the Centralia American Legion Post.

Tom enjoyed the time he spent with his friends. Above all, he treasured his family; he was extremely devoted to and proud of his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas A. McGinley; one sister, Peggy Lou Valencik; three brothers, Joseph McGinley, Owen McGinley and Marty McGinley.

Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty-three years, Lorraine C. McGinley; two sons, Marty McGinley and his husband Stephen and Brian McGinley and his wife Jen; one daughter, Marisa McGinley and her wife AnnMarie Birster; daughter-in-law, Happy McGinley; grandchildren, Joseph McGinley, Savannah McGinley, Thomas A McGinley III, Sean Patrick McGinley, Heidi McGinley, Hollis McGinley; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11:00 am in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 1115 Walnut Street, Ashland with Rev. Giuseppe C. Esposito as the celebrant. A visitation will be held prior to the Mass on Saturday morning from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at St. Charles of Borromeo Church. There will be no visitation or services from the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be private at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
