Man Dies After Crash Near Port Carbon

We reported early that two people were injured Thursday morning in a crash on Route 209 near Port Carbon.  One of the victims has passed away.

Police Chief Comments on Drug Paraphernalia Found in Borough

Shenandoah Police Chief George Carado had the following comments in response to recent postings on Social Media regarding syringes and drug paraphernalia found in the borough

Working House Fire in Mahanoy City

Around 9:30pm, fire crews were called to the area of 25 South 12th Street Mahanoy City for a working house fire.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Route 61 South Closed South of Frackville

(3:20pm) We are getting word from eyewitnesses that Route 61 southbound on the Frackville Grade is closed.  Traffic rerouted at the Schuylkill Mall ramp.


An accident occurred late Tuesday morning but we have no information what happened at this time.

UPDATE:  The highway reopened around 3:30pm
