2 People Killed in Crashes in County Saturday Morning

On Saturday morning, 2 separate crashes claimed the lives of 2 individuals.


The first accident happened in Mahanoy Twp around 12:30am when Shirl Mumie, 37, of Shenandoah, lost control of her vehicle on Route 54, crossed the center line, and hit James Hossler, 62, of Shenandoah head on.  Hossler was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another individual, Joseph Minnich, 41, of Mahanoy City was also injured when Mumie struck him while he was walking along Route 54 prior to the head on crash.

A second accident happened just before 8:30am when a vehicle flipped near Mile Marker 100 on Interstate 81.

One person was killed in the crash and another was flown from the scene.

No names have been released for the second accident
