THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STATE COLLEGE PA HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WARNING FOR... CENTRAL DAUPHIN COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA... EAST CENTRAL CUMBERLAND COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA... SOUTHEASTERN COLUMBIA COUNTY IN CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA... SCHUYLKILL COUNTY IN CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA... NORTHWESTERN YORK COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA... SOUTHEASTERN NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY IN CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA... NORTHWESTERN LEBANON COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA...

* AT 801 PM EDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING HEAVY RAIN WHICH WILL CAUSE FLOODING OVER THE WARNING AREA. SOUTHERN AREAS OF SCHUYLKILL COUNTY HAVE SEEN IN EXCESS OF 2 INCHES EARLIER TODAY...AND AN ADDITIONAL ONE TO ONE AND A HALF INCHES OF RAIN IS LIKELY BY 1000 PM EDT. RAPID RISES ON STREAMS AND CREEKS WILL RESULT FROM THIS RAIN AND MAY CAUSE THEM TO OVERFLOW THEIR BANKS. WIDESPREAD FLOODING OF ROADWAYS AND INTERSECTIONS...BASEMENTS AND POOR DRAINAGE AREAS IS ALSO EXPECTED.

* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE... HARRISBURG...LOWER ALLEN...POTTSVILLE...HERSHEY...COLONIAL PARK... PROGRESS...CAMP HILL...NEW CUMBERLAND...TAMAQUA...LINGLESTOWN... STEELTON...MOUNT CARMEL...SCHUYLKILL HAVEN...SHENANDOAH... LEMOYNE...HUMMELSTOWN...MINERSVILLE...MAHANOY CITY...FRACKVILLE AND ST. CLAIR. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
