With No Parades to March, Musicians Play Taps at Cemeteries for Memorial Day

Musicians past and present from the North Schuylkill School District played taps around the area Monday.

Due to the early closures of Pennsylvania's school districts, that left Memorial Day Parades without marching bands and stopped bands from playing.

Musician, Band Director, and Music Teacher, William Lennox from the North Schuylkill School couldn't sit around Memorial Day morning without playing some sort of music, so he turned to social media.

Lennox put out a notice to Schuylkill County musicians that were interested in playing Monday.  Four of his current and past students reached out with interest.

Instead of marching Monday, Lennox, along with Jacob Hepler, Zach Piampi, Brandon Joseph, and Mark Klitsch visited the cemeteries of Frackville, Fountain Springs, Ashland, Centralia, Aristes, and Ringtown and simply played Taps to honor the lives lost and were laid to rest.
