Man Flown After Crash Last Week on Interstate 81

A man was flown after a crash along Interstate 81 in Foster Township last week.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred in the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 near mile marker 112.6 around 7:15pm on Wednesday, April 21st, 2021.

Troopers say Ludwik Pawlica, 67, of Freeland, was traveling north in his Honda Pilot when for unknown reasons went off the highway.

Pawlica lost control and spun out crashing into an embankment.

After the impact, his vehicle rolled once before coming to a final rest.

Pawlica was reported to have suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to the Schuylkill County Airport where he was flown via LifeFlight to an area hospital.

Assisting State Police at the scene were the Donaldson and Tremont Fire Departments along with Hegins and Tremont Ambulances.
