SERT Called for Man Barricaded in Home near Orwigsburg

The Pennsylvania State Police SERT responded to a standoff near Orwigsburg on Thursday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, on Thursday, around 3:00pm, Troopers from the Schuylkill Haven, Hamburg, and Frackville barracks responded to 430 Rauschs Road, in West Brunswick Township near Orwigsburg for a report of a disturbance.

Troopers said a 62-year-old man pointed a gun at another male and barricaded himself inside the home.

State Police established a perimeter around the home and obtained a search warrant.  Multiple commands were given to the man, but he did not respond.

The Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) was called and are currently on scene, according to an update at 10:15pm, Thursday.

Fire police were called, and roads are closed in the area of the incident.

UPDATE:  Roads in the area reopened around 5:50am, Friday.
