Ann Dudish Announces Intent to Seek Re-Election for Recorder of Deeds of Schuylkill County

On Saturday, Recorder of Deeds Ann Dudish announced she is seeking a third term re-election bid for the Office of the Recorder of Deeds of Schuylkill County.

Dudish would like to thank the voters for their continued support.

The responsibility of the Office of the Recorder of Deeds of Schuylkill County is to maintain permanent records of all documents related to real estate, such as deeds, mortgages, and subdivision plans. The Office records veteran’s discharge papers, also known as a DD214, and notary public commissions. The Office is also the transfer agent for the realty transfer tax for 67 municipalities and 14 school districts and the state realty transfer tax.

“I believe providing accessible and efficient public access to the permanent records is an essential function of my office.” Dudish negotiated a renewal of a 5-year contract with her vendor for the hardware and software used in her office saving the county approximately $1,500 per month compared to the prior 5-year contract. Dudish has gone through four county audits and three state audits with zero deficiencies. Dudish plans to initiate ACH transfers for the payment of the realty transfer tax for the municipalities and school districts in conjunction with Sharyn Yackenchick, County Controller. This will provide immediate funding and alleviate misplaced or lost checks to the municipalities and school districts.

“I also hold a seat on the Legislative Committee for the Pennsylvania Recorder of Deeds Association. In this capacity, I can provide expert input to bills presented before the state legislature that have a direct impact on the Recorder’s office.”

The Recorder of Deeds Office has a dedicated six-person staff to serve the public with the highest level of professionalism and proficiency.

Prior to being appointed to her current position, Dudish was a financial controller for Richard B. Ryon Insurance, Anthracite Abstract Company and Murphy Jewelers. Dudish is president of Anthracite Abstract Company Inc., a local title agency, that her late husband, former Recorder of Deeds A. Matthew Dudish started over 40 years ago. She is a member of American Land Title Association, the Pennsylvania Recorder of Deeds Association, and an affiliate member of the Schuylkill County Board of Realtors.

Dudish is a life-long resident of Schuylkill County and a graduate of Pottsville Area High School. Dudish has a daughter, son-in-law, twin grandchildren and a son. Dudish is a Life Member of the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Schuylkill Auxiliary, a Make-A-Wish Foundation wish granting volunteer, a member of the Board of Directors of Schuylkill EMS, a member of the Board of Directors of Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce and a member of St Patrick Roman Catholic Church.
