Mary Franklin, 82, of Pottsville, PA, passed away Sunday, January 29th, at her residence.

Mary was born in Frackville, PA on June 14, 1940, a daughter of the late Minnie Mae (Snyder) and Frank Mastella.

She was wife of the late Daniel.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Lisa, wife of Florian Saladigo, of Jacksonville FL;
Mary Keim, of Tower City. five sons Robert Ketterer, of Scranton; Donald, husband of Sandy Ketterer, of Williamstown; Thomas Franklin, of Frackville; Daniel Franklin, of Pottsville; Mark Terraciano, of Shenandoah;

Mary is also survived by 12 Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren.

Interment will take place at a late date National Cemetery Fort Indiantown Gap Annville, PA.

Joan Y. Uhrin, 84, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Wednesday, February 1st, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Schuylkill, Pottsville.

Born in St. Clair on March 11, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Victoria (Jersick) and Joseph Stickloon.

She was the wife of Michael Uhrin.

After graduation from St. Clair High School, Joan attended Pottsville Nursing School and received a nursing degree. She was then employed as an independent nurse for many years.

In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by a daughter, Cathy Woznicki. She is also survived by grandchildren, Melissa Jenkins, Elizabeth Krisa, Theresa Woznicki; great grandchildren, Jocelyn, Alexa, Owen, Elijah, Logan, Tyson, and Sonya; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Joan is preceded in death by her brothers and sister.

Services are private at the convenience of family.

Nicholas A. "Nick" Arciola, 34 of Shenandoah passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023 at his residence.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Robert P. Stanakis, Sr. 71 of Ringtown passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023.

Born in Shenandoah on August 16, 1951, he was a son of the late Peter and Florence (Gormas) Stanakis.

Prior to his retirement, he was the co-owner and butcher at the former Capitol Food Store, Shenandoah.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his grandson, Darien Stanakis.

Surviving are his wife of forty-nine years, the former Carole Chiscavage; three sons, Dale Stanakis and his wife Cathi, Robert P. Stanakis, Jr. and his wife Diedre and Michael Stanakis and his fiancé Samantha Dunphy; six grandchildren; two brothers, Matthew Stanakis and Peter Stanakis; two sisters, Carole Garber and Janet Stanakis; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

William C. Bowerman
, 92, of Laurel, MD, formerly of Williamstown, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at White Oak Medical Center, Silver Spring, MD.

He was born Jan. 19, 1931, at his family home in Tower City, son of the late William E. and Catherine H. (Reiner) Bowerman.

Bill was married to his soulmate, Grace L. (Stuppy) Bowerman, for nearly 51 years. Grace passed away Mar. 11, 2003.

He was a 1949 graduate of the former Williamstown High School. Bill was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Tower City, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Williamstown, and Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Hill.

Following high school graduation, he worked for 21 years at the former Miller’s Furniture in Harrisburg. He then worked for another 21 years before retiring in 1991 from the Commonwealth of PA as a refrigeration plant supervisor.

Bill volunteered at Williamstown’s Liberty Hose Co. No. 1 for 25 years and was a lifetime member of the Dauphin County Fireman’s Association. He also served on Williamstown’s Borough Council and Sewer Authority for several years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved to play cards and board games as often as he could. He was fiercely independent and could often be found doing projects around the house, from yard work to minor repairs. He worked hard his entire life and rarely slowed down. Despite being hindered by health issues in recent years, Bill retained his independent spirit and sense of humor.

He is survived by two sons, Dane E. (Margaret) of Mechanicsburg, and John C. (Tissiana) Bowerman of Laurel, MD, four grandsons, Keith, Gerald, Zachary, and Joshua, three great grandchildren, Logan, Grace, and Jack, one sister, Joan (Paul) Adams, and a brother, John “Jack” (Joan) Bowerman.

In addition to his wife, Grace, he was preceded in death by brothers Clair, Mark, and Carl Bowerman, and sister, Catherine Sener.

Private services will be held for immediate family members. He will be buried with Grace at Calvary United Methodist Cemetery, Wiconisco.

Carole L Shadle
, age 81, formerly of Hegins, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown.

She was born on Sunday, July 6, 1941, in Valley View, a daughter of the late William L Boyer and the late Erma Irene (Spotts) Boyer.

She was a graduate of Tri-Valley High School.

Carole was a cook at the former Jack's Restaurant and at the Valley View Bowling Alley, she retired as a clerk for Tri-Valley Pharmacy.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View.

Carole was an avid card player and enjoyed cooking, and spending time with her family. She was especially proud of the Memorial Day picnic that was held annually at her home.

Her husband, Frank T Shadle, passed away in 1993.

She is survived by two sons, Curtis FShadle and his wife Cindy of Galeton and William D Shadle and his wife Jill of Collierville, TN; a grandson, Mathew Shadle of Burbank, CA; three granddaughters, Alicia Sprow and her husband Matt of Sylvania, OH, Lauren House and her husband Travis of Spring Hill, TN, and Kristen Duncan and her husband Jack of Collierville, TN; and three great grandchildren, Norah, Owen, and Brooks.

Funeral services will be held at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc, Valley View, on Monday, February 6, 2023, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Lee Diefenderfer officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Valley View.

Thomas M. Schenck, 92, of Pottsville passed away Monday morning at the Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late William A. Schenck and Gertrude Schaeffer Schenck.

He was a 1948 graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School and a 1957 graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He also spent time with the Peace Corps in Malawi, Africa. He was employed with variety of defense contractors, Bendex, Sperry Gyroscope, Gruman, Burroughs, the Naval Air Development Center and Martin Marietta. He was also employed at the Allen Organ Co., Macungie, Pa.e was also H

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife Marge Schenck, a daughter Linda: a brother William J. Schenck ; and 3 sisters, Miriam Evans, Grace Brady and Rosalia Campion.

He is survived by a son John T. Schenck, Cressona; 2 daughters, Janet Whitney, Milford, De. and Laura Cortright, Milford, De and son-in-law Paul Cortright; 2 grandsons, Justin and Collin Whitney; 2 granddaughters, Kellie and Charli Cortright; 2 great granddaughter Kallie Whitney and Delaney Whitney; a great grandson Harrison Whitney; nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville on Saturday at 11AM. Interment with Military honors will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions to AseraCare Hospice, 7660 Imperial Way, Unit 140, Allentown, Pa. 18195.

Nicholas Sekellick
, 95, passed away peacefully at Providence Place, Pottsville on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, with his niece Sharon L. (McFadden) Carroll and her husband Anthony C. Carroll at his side. 

Nick was born in Buck Run, Pa. on September 5, 1927, to Frances (Bazaar) Sekellick and Simon Sekellick. He was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Minersville. Nick was a Medic while serving with the U.S. Army during Post World War II. As a child at the age of 10 he was a “Breaker Boy” for the coal industry. Nick was employed by the 7 Up bottling company for 40 years. Before retiring as Vice-President of the Pottsville branch. He was a President of The Pottsville Club from 1979-1981, and a member of the Rotary Club. 

In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine (Fliegel) Sekellick, in 2005, and three brothers, James (Monica) Sekellick, John (Veronica) Sekellick, and Alex Sekellick, as well as a sister, Mary Weiss. 

Nick is survived by a sister, Irene, wife of Bill Post, many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He is also survived by his devoted and beloved family friends, the Rissmiller and Jenkins families. 

A Requiem Divine Liturgy shall be celebrated Saturday, 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Minersville. 

All are respectfully invited to attend a visitation at the church from 8:30 to the time of Liturgy. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made to the St. Nicholas School Fund.
