Woman Dies from Injuries Sustained in Schuylkill County Crash

A woman died from her injuries that she suffered in a Schuylkill County crash on Saturday.

Around 1:15pm, Saturday, emergency personnel were called to the intersection of a motor vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of Route 61 and Route 895 in West Brunswick Township near Auburn.

Early reports were the crash involved at least 3 vehicles.

An aeromedical helicopter landed near the scene of the crash and transported Ruth Bressler, 85, of Auburn, to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest in Allentown.

According to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio, Bressler died at the hospital just after 8:30pm, Saturday, from her injuries.

Her cause of death was listed as multiple traumatic injuries due to the crash.

UPDATE:  According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the crash occurred as Bressler was traveling east on Route 895 and failed to stop for a steady red signal at the intersection with Route 61. Bressler's Chevrolet Malibu was struck in the rear by a tractor-trailer driven by Bonnie Szilli, 54, of Mohrsville, PA.  Bressler's car spun and was struck in the rear again by Douglas Newmoyer, 68, of Pottsville in a Toyota Sienna.

Newmoyer and his passenger, Victoria Mock, 49, of Pottsville suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital via Schuylkill EMS.
