Barbara Ann Maberry, 78, of Hamburg, passed away Monday, April 24th, at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Reading, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Pottsville on June 6, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Robert & Roberta (Moyer) Roeder.

She was the widow of Travis Jay Maberry, Jr. who passed away in 1997.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by an infant brother, Baby Boy Roeder.

Barbara was a 1962 graduate of Blue Mountain High School.

She was last employed by Cabela's in customer service. Barbara had also worked for the Reading Phillies as a concession stand manager, as well as K-Mart as lead cashier.

Barbara loved her cats, attending craft shoes, and outings to the casino; but above all else, she adored her family.

Barbara is survived by two sons: Scott A. Maberry, husband of Kathleen, of Hamburg; & Jeffrey R. Maberry, of Jefferson Township; three grandchildren: Amanda R. Maberry, Mark Flammer, & Andrew Flammer, a great-granddaughter, Kiera, a sister, Beverly Kerschner, wife of Daniel, a brother, Dale Roeder, all of Auburn; and nieces & nephews.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, May 1st at Geschwindt Stabingas Ebling Funeral Home, Inc., Schuylkill Haven, with Lisa Johnson officiating. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 AM until the time of service.

Interment will follow at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

The family prefers remembrances in the form of contributions to American Stroke Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.

Mary Buchanan D’Allessandro, 93 of Raven Run, died on Monday, April 24th at The Providence Place, Pottsville. Mary was born in Ellengowan.

She was a graduate of Mahanoy Township High School and was a member of St. Joseph Church in Girardville. She enjoyed reading, crafts, crocheting, and doing puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dominic, brother Joseph, sister JoAnne, son Michael, and grandson Michael.

Surviving are daughter Kathy Connolly, son-in-law John Connolly, son John D’Allessandro, and daughter-in -law Lori D’Allessandro. Mary‘s surviving grandchildren are Shannon and Nicholas Giordano, Craig D’Allessandro, and Kara and Kurt Gouldner. Mary’s surviving great grandchildren are Gracelynn Giordano, Giovanni Giordano, Vincenzo Giordano, Michael D’Allessandro, Madeline D’Allessandro, and Cal Gouldner.

Mary will be laid to rest at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville. Family has asked that donations be sent to The American Heart Association at PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692

Joyce W. Brobst
, age 92, of Mahanoy City, passed away Tuesday at her home. 

Born in Kennedy Texas she was the daughter of the late Wash and Nora (Wright) Webb. She was a high school graduate and attended San Marcus State Teaching School. She was of the Protestant faith. 

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband of 44 Years Russell L. Brobst Sr. and two brothers G.W. Webb and Larry Dean Webb. 

 She is survived by two sons Russell L. Brobst Jr. and his wife Diane of Frackville, Sammy D. Brobst Sr. and his wife Debbie of Mahanoy City, grandchildren Sammy D. Brobst Jr. and his companion Kristy, Russell L. Brobst Jr. and his companion Jess, Amanda Brobst, Megan Ward and her husband Thomas W. Ward III, and great grandchildren Ty, Steph, Thomas, Nhysia and Brantley. 

In her spare time she loved spending time with her pets Tessie and Callie and tending to her goats and chickens. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Saturday morning at 10:30 AM from David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City. The Rev. Julian Melewski will officiate. 

Interment will follow at Sky View Memorial Park in Hometown.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 9 AM until time of service. 

 Contributions in her name to either the Hillside SPCA or Ruth Steinert SPCA would be appreciated by the family and accepted at the visitation.

Dotty Eye, 83 of Girardville passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pottsville.

Born in Girardville, she was a daughter of the late Ken and Dot (Burkey) Calvert.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack, son Ken, and daughter Debbie, and her sister Betty Lou Thornberg.

Dotty worked at Goodwill Industries for many years until retirement. She enjoyed visiting her sister at Rehoboth Beach, DE often.

Surviving are a daughter Sandy Billus and her husband Mark; daughter in law Linda Eye; grandchildren Amy McDonald, John Eye, Brandy and Bob Green, and Alyssa Dempsey; great grandchildren Jonathan McDonald, Hailey McDonald, Lexy Stravinsky and her husband Dalton, Rachel Green and Jackson Dempsey; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday April 29th at 11AM at St. Joseph’s Cemetery-Fountain Springs.

Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home Inc. 901 Centre Street Ashland, PA 17921 has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Isabel Gerena
, 70, of Shenandoah, was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, April 25th, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be conducted on Monday, May 1st from 4pm to 7pm at the Divine Power of Christ Church, 38 E. Oak St, Shenandoah. The services will be led by Pastor Marcus Alvarez. Burial will take place the following morning, May 2nd, in the Rosehill Cemetery in Linden, New Jersey at 11:30am.
