Richard F. Campbell
, long time Tamaqua youth sports coach and ardent supporter of Tamaqua High School athletics of Rowe Street Tamaqua passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale, Pennsylvania. He was 82 years of age.
Born Monday, August 25, 1941 in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania the son of the late Harold "Pete" and Helen M. (Baddick) Campbell. Rich was also predeceased by; his beloved wife, Verna I. (Edmonds) Campbell on February 8, 2017; grandson, Michael T. Boyer January 2, 2020.

Surviving are; daughter, Cay Anne Campbell and her companion Michaƫl Curran of Pottsville; son, Richard T. "Rick" Campbell and his wife Lisa of South Williamsport; Steven P. Campbell of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Rebeca "Becky", Richard, and Zachary; great grandchild, Harper who was the love of his life.

A Marian Catholic High School graduate, Rich served honorably in the United States Marine Reserve for 8 years. A devout member of St. John XXIII R.C.C. of Tamaqua, Rich also belonged to Tamaqua Legion Post # 173. A Past President of the Tamaqua Football Boosters, Rich could be found running the French Fry stand on game night, and then for many years was a member of the chain gang working the sidelines for all Tamaqua football home games. Rich coached Little League baseball for 8years, and Knee- football for 12 years.

An avid outdoorsman, Rich enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fly fishing. Rich looked forward to trips to the casino, and liked to dance to good old Rock & Roll.

Rich worked at Mack Trucks, Ametek, and retired as a prison guard from SCI Mahanoy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday April 4, 2024 at 10 o'clock A.M. from St. John XXIII R.C.C. 307 Pine Street Tamaqua, Pa 18252.

Interment with Military Honors bestowed Sky-View Memorial Park Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.

Stephen J. Lazur
, 83, of McAdoo, passed away Monday, March 25, 2024, at St. Luke’s Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale.

He was born in Coaldale, December 13, 1940, to the late George and Frances (Lucas) Lazur.

He was of Roman Catholic faith and a former member of St. Mary of the Assumption R.C. Church, McAdoo.

Stephen was a U.S. Army veteran. He served during the Berlin Crisis and was stationed in France and Germany with the U.S. Army 249th Combat-Engineers. While there, he was involved in the construction of a railroad and also jet hangers.

Prior to retiring, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Lehigh Anthracite. He was very gifted at fixing things, including cars, appliances, equipment, and anything else in need of repair. He was blessed with positivity, perseverance, and a good sense of humor. Stephen enjoyed hunting, fishing, driving the tractor, and simply being outdoors. He was also very kind, hard-working, gifted with insight, attentive to detail, perceptive of others’ feelings, and helpful to everyone he met.

Stephen served in the Army National Guard and was a member of Quakake American Legion Post 973.

Preceding him in death were brothers, George and Daniel Lazur; and sisters, Jean Haspe, Frances Adamo and Lillian Sobczynski.

Surviving are his daughter Susan Brennan and husband Dr. John, of Zion Grove; granddaughters Susan and Marianne Brennan; nephew Leonard Haspe; and nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, April 3. The Rev. Msgr. William Baker will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Church of All Saints, McAdoo. Interment will follow in Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church.

The Damiano Funeral Home Inc., McAdoo, is assisting with the arrangements.
