Michael L. Pietkiewicz (“Peck”), 56, of Jefferson, Maryland, passed away Wednesday, April 24th, 2024 surrounded by family and friends, at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on September 30th, 1967 in Pottsville PA, he was the son of the late Stanley & Irene (Walukiewicz) Pietkiewicz.

He was a 1985 graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School and continued his education at Columbia University on an athletic & academic scholarship graduating with his bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1989.

Mike was respected and loved by his co-workers, starting with JELD-WEN, managing window and door manufacturing, he moved on to other aspects of the construction industry. He successfully managed a framing/window and door installation division for a nationwide supplier and ended his career in warehouse/operations management for TNT Services Group, where he enjoyed cooking out for everybody and spending time with his co-workers.

Peck was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan with season tickets that he enjoyed sharing with everyone. Nobody was ever turned away from a tailgate when he was around. Mike married his wife of 16 years, Amy (nee Dettery), on the beach in Hatteras where they vacationed every year. He also loved spending his time at their home in Jefferson MD with his cat, “Kitty”, where he tended his garden and grape vines, which he would ultimately turn into a yummy wine for his family and friends to enjoy.

Mike was predeceased by sister Diane in 2016.

In addition to his beloved wife, Amy, he is survived by three brothers, Stanley, Leo & Alan; sister, Janie Shustack; three nephews, Joseph, Tyler & Adrienne Shustack and Andy Pietkiewicz; and niece Carrissa Irene. He is also survived by great-nephews and great-niece, Landyn, Greyson, Joseph, Liberty (“Libby”) and Neela Lee; his mother-in law, Maryellen Dettery, father-in-law, Larry Dettery Sr. and brothers-in-law, Joe & Larry Dettery Jr., aunts, cousins and many, many treasured friends who he celebrated and enjoyed life with. Kitty also survives.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 2, 2023 at 10:00 am at Divine Mercy Church, 232 West Cherry Street, Shenandoah with Rev. Fr. Steven J. Brosk, Lt. Col. USAF Retired as the celebrant. Interment will follow next to his parents in Our Lady of Dawn Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday morning from 7:30 am until 9:30 am at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah. Feel free to dress casually including Steelers attire in memory of Mike. (Ravens attire will not be admitted!)

Donations in Mike’s memory can be made to the Shenandoah Quarterback Club to benefit the SVHS football team, c/o the Michael Pietkiewicz Memorial and mailed to PO Box 136, Shenandoah, PA 17976.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah is in care of the arrangements.

Dolores M. Scheib
, age 77, of Hegins, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024 at her residence.

She was born on Saturday, May 4, 1946, in Barry Twp, a daughter of the late Arthur E Grose and the late Elsie (Miller) Grose.

Dolores was a 1964 graduate of Tri-Valley High School.

She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Hegins.

Dolores enjoyed word search and jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family.

Her husband, Warren V Scheib, passed away in 1991. She was also preceded in death by a son, Dwayne W Scheib, and a sister, Marian Holland.

She is survived by a daughter, Melissa M Shomper and her husband Neil of Hegins; five grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Grose of Reading; her cat Meow; and several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating.

Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc., Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
