A Schuylkill County man died in a crash on Route 183 in Berks County on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the crash occurred around 2:30pm, Tuesday, on Route 183 near the Appalachian National Scenic Trail in Bethel Township.
Troopers say William Lecher, 56, of Pottsville was driving his Chevrolet Silverado when he crossed over the center median, crossed the southbound lanes, and went off the shoulder of the roadway. His truck struck 2 PennDOT signs and came to a stop after striking an embankment.
State Police say when they arrived on scene, Lecher was found unresponsive, locked inside the vehicle. State Police provided life saving measures until Schuylkill EMS arrived and transported him to Geisinger St. Lukes in Orwigsburg where he was pronounced deceased.
