The Schuylkill Technology Center (STC) North Campus was filled with celebration and pride on Thursday morning as the school held its fourth Annual SkillsUSA Signing Day, honoring members of the Class of 2025 as they formally committed to the next step in their futures.
The event recognized seniors for their post-graduation plans, which included direct employment in their field of study, enrollment in post-secondary technical education, and enlistment in the U.S. military. The celebration served not only as a ceremonial signing day but as a testament to the strength of Schuylkill County’s skilled workforce pipeline.
Before the formal signing, students heard encouraging remarks from several local dignitaries who praised their accomplishments and emphasized the importance of returning to, or remaining in, Schuylkill County to build their careers and communities.
Speakers included Evelyn Datte representing Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-9), Mary Beth Dougherty representing State Senator Dave Argall (PA-29), State Representatives Joann Stehr (PA-107), Tim Twardzik (PA-123), and Dane Watro (PA-116), along with Darlene Robbins and Courtney Fasnacht of the Northeast PA Manufacturers and Employers Council, Inc.
Additional words of encouragement came from Bob Carl of the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce and all three Schuylkill County Commissioners—Gary Hess, Boots Hetherington, and Larry Padora—each echoing the same sentiment: Schuylkill County needs the next generation of skilled workers, and its doors are open for their return.
The event concluded with remarks from Mahdy Farhat, SkillsUSA South Student Body President, and Jorel Powell, SkillsUSA North Campus President, who addressed their classmates with messages of inspiration and pride in their collective accomplishments.
After the signing, students, families, and community members enjoyed a celebratory breakfast where STC honored several companies involved in the school’s work co-op program—recognizing their dedication to student development and hands-on experience.
SkillsUSA, the national organization behind the event, continues to play a vital role in bridging education and workforce development. By emphasizing personal responsibility, workplace readiness, and technical proficiency, the organization is helping shape a skilled workforce ready to meet the demands of modern industry.
