Gerald J. (Jerry) Stefanick, 82, of Cresswell Gardens, Ashland, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, July 9, at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Born on November 3, 1942, at Ashland State Hospital, Jerry was the beloved son of the late Peter and Florence (Kegolis) Stefanick.

He was a proud graduate of Mahanoy Area High School, Class of 1960, where he earned All-State honors in basketball. His athletic talent earned him a full basketball scholarship to Villanova University, where he graduated in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance.

Jerry began his professional career with the U.S. Department of Labor, serving as a Wage and Hour Investigator for 10 years. He later became self-employed as a Wage and Hour consultant, a role he held for 40 years. Among his many accomplishments, he was especially proud of his 34-year tenure as a Business Consultant to the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA).

A passionate tennis player, Jerry played the sport for 48 years and continued to enjoy it nearly every day while wintering in Madeira Beach, Florida. There, he competed with players from around the world, including Czechoslovakia, Canada, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, and Scotland.

Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Ann (Womer) Stefanick. He is survived by his brother, Peter, and wife Alice of Olalla, WA; sisters Carol Clarke of Wilmington, DE, and Sandra Smith and her partner Fred Kraus of Lewisburg, PA; stepdaughter Lisa Lute of Holly Hill, FL; and nephew Sean Smith of Pottsville, PA.

A practicing Catholic, Jerry also served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He was a proud member of the Frackville American Legion and the Northern Anthracite Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2, at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Ashland from 9:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Frackville. Arrangements are being handled by Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home Inc, 901 Centre St, Ashland PA 17921.

Joseph W. Reardon Jr.
, 75, of Barnesville, died Thursday, July 17, at St. Luke’s Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale.

Born June 2, 1950, in Shenandoah, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Coombe) Reardon. Joe grew up in Mahanoy City, graduating from Mahanoy Area High School in 1968.

Joe taught electricity at the South Vo-Tech, Mar Lin, for more than 30 years, training many students in the trade.

Joe loved racing Formula Fords in his younger years and was proud to hold his private pilot’s license. A hobbyist, he enjoyed building model cars, airplanes and ships.

Joe lived life on his terms, loved meeting new people and could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere.

In addition to his long-time girlfriend, Terry Rang, with whom he lived, Joe is survived by the Coombe cousins and Terry’s siblings, nieces and nephews. 

 Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday morning at 11 AM from David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City. The Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday morning beginning at 9:30 AM until time of services.

Raymond L. Bohr, Sr.
, 65, of Tremont, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at home.

Born on June 6, 1960 in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Clark E. Sr. and Leona M. Donton Bohr.

Raymond was a 1979 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School.

He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Raymond worked for Reading Tube.

Preceding him in death was his wife of 35 years, Vikki L. Arnold Bohr in 2022.

Surviving are three sons, Nathaniel Bohr of Texas, Raymond Bohr Jr. of Tremont, Austin and wife Kayla Bohr of Pottsville; three grandchildren, Benjamin, Olivia and Dominic; a brother, Clark and wife Sandra Bohr of California; a sister, Sandra Garrison of Tower City; nieces and nephews.

There will be no services at this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., 139 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, PA. 17963 in his memory.

Terrance “Terry” W. Allsop, 76, of Ashland passed away Saturday morning July 19th at his residence.

Born in Ashland on February 26, 1949 he was the son of the late Lois (Seitzinger) and William Allsop.

Terry graduated from Ashland Area High School in 1967.

He was of the Protestant faith and was a member of Christ Congregational Church-Fountain Springs.

Terry was the husband of Lana J. (Newell) Allsop, they have been married since 1992.

Terry worked for many years at Tri-State Envelope as cutter and later in shipping and receiving before his retirement.

He was a member of the former Fountain Springs Fire Company and current member of Friendship Fire Company #1 Englewood in Frackville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Stella Yesalusky and infant baby sister Allsop.

Terry is survived by; spouse Lana J. Allsop, Ashland; brother Joel Yesalusky (Judy), Ashland; brother Steven Yesalusky (Julie), Minersville; son William “Billy” Allsop; daughter Janine Allsop; daughter Wendy Barnesky; daughter Lana Slotterback; son Louis Slotterback; daughter Amy Slotterback; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; nieces & nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 23, 2025 at 10:00 AM Christ Congregational Church, 134 Broad St, Ashland PA 17921. A viewing for family and friends will be from 9:00-10:00 AM prior to services at the church. Burial will follow services at Christ Church Cemetery-Fountain Springs.
