Anthony James Urban, Esquire, and Brian Joseph Urban, Esquire, of the Law Offices of Anthony Urban, PC, presented monetary scholarship awards to Alexis Chilinskas and William Mayberry. The scholarships were awarded based on merit and financial need, selected from among ten qualified applicants who submitted academic records, financial information, and essays detailing their educational goals.
For more than 30 years, the Urban Memorial Scholarship has awarded over $150,000 in grants to Mahanoy Area graduates who demonstrate dedication to academic excellence and community service.
Alexis Chilinskas, who graduated first in her class of 78 students, plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh to study Biochemistry. She intends to pursue an advanced degree in the medical field.
William Mayberry will enroll at Widener University with the goal of earning both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing. He aspires to become a Nurse Practitioner. Both recipients have been active in their community and involved in numerous extracurricular activities throughout their high school years.
During the presentation, held shortly before the school’s graduation ceremony on June 5, Attorney Anthony Urban congratulated Chilinskas and Mayberry and presented them with checks from the scholarship fund. Attorney Brian Urban offered his best wishes to the recipients and all graduating seniors as they begin the next chapter of their education.
Also in attendance was Jennifer Zilker, M.Ed., Mahanoy Area Jr./Sr. High School Counselor, who assisted with coordinating the scholarship application process.
