Suspected DUI Crash Damages Vehicles and Property at Car Dealership in Pottsville

A Sacramento man is facing DUI charges after a crash early Wednesday morning in Pottsville that left a passenger injured and caused damage at a local car dealership.

According to the Pottsville Bureau of Police, officers were dispatched around 2:51 a.m. on August 20, 2025, to the 2100 block of West Market Street for a report of a crash with injuries.

Upon arrival, police found a white 2014 Volkswagen Jetta with heavy damage. The vehicle had been operated by La Andre Johnson, 20, of Sacramento, PA. An investigation determined that the Jetta was traveling west on West Market Street when it left the roadway, striking a light pole, a Ram pickup truck, and a sign on the property of Bob Weaver Auto dealership.

Police reported that Johnson displayed signs of intoxication and was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending the results of chemical testing.

A front-seat passenger sustained minor injuries and was transported by Schuylkill EMS to Lehigh Valley Hospital–Schuylkill for treatment.

The Jetta was towed from the scene. Members of the Pottsville Fire Department assisted with traffic control and cleanup.
