Pottsville Domestic Dispute Escalates: Man Robs Ex, Sets Money on Fire


A Pottsville man is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison following a domestic dispute.

According to Pottsville Police, on August 18, 2025, at approximately 11:52 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance call in the 700 block of West Market Street. The incident involved an altercation between Shawn Cicero Jr., 31, of Pottsville, and a 43-year-old female resident, stemming from the end of their relationship.

According to police reports, Cicero Jr. became agitated during the argument, forcibly taking the victim’s purse and fleeing down the street. 

He allegedly rummaged through the purse, scattering its contents across the roadway. 

Cicero Jr. then removed three dollar bills belonging to the victim and set them on fire, destroying one of the bills.

Officers apprehended Cicero Jr. in the 700 block of Mahantongo Street. 

During a search, authorities discovered a crystal-like substance in his possession, which field tests confirmed to be methamphetamine.

Cicero Jr. was charged with felony robbery, misdemeanor theft, and possession of a controlled substance. 

He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley, who set bail at $1,500. Unable to post bail, Cicero Jr. was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison.
