POTTSVILLE – Police have issued an arrest warrant for a Pottsville man accused of brutally assaulting a woman last week, leaving her hospitalized with serious injuries.
According to court documents filed through Magisterial District Judge James Reiley, Brent William Herb, 38, of Pottsville, has been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault (F1) – Attempts to cause serious bodily injury or causes injury with extreme indifference
- False Imprisonment (M2)
- Simple Assault (M2)
- Harassment (Summary)
At the scene, officers spoke with the victim, who told police that Herb became enraged earlier that morning, accusing her of infidelity. According to the criminal complaint, Herb repeatedly punched and kicked the woman, then struck her several times with an iPad. Each time she tried to escape, Herb allegedly continued the assault.
Police reported observing severe swelling and bruising to the victim’s face, along with a laceration inside her mouth. The victim also told police she believed Herb was under the influence of a controlled substance during the attack. She said the beating stopped only when Herb suddenly fled the apartment.
Later that day, officers again met with the victim at Lehigh Valley Hospital–East in Pottsville, where doctors noted swelling across her body. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was transferred to a trauma center after doctors discovered serious brain bleeding caused by the assault.
Attempts to locate Herb have been unsuccessful, and he remains wanted by authorities.
