John H. "Jack" Pryce
, 73 of Lost Creek, PA., passed away on August 9, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was the husband of Josephine A. (Weikel) Pryce. Born in Ashland, PA., he was the son of the late Herbert L. and Agnes (Myers) Pryce. John was a 1970 graduate of North Schuylkill. He worked at Poly Plastics as a machine operator until an unfortunate accident forced early retirement. John loved music and was always with his guitar.

He is predeceased by one sister, Joanne Diaz. Surviving in addition to Josephine are his children, Jennifer wife of Jake Zak, Ashland, PA, Heather Pryce fiance of Mike Trevorah Ashland, John B Pryce Shamokin and Jason Pryce Ashland 11 Grandchildren, Victoria, Emily, Shawn, Haylei, Skyler, Jordan, Chloe, Gavyn, Braydon, Alexis and Gage. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mark J Hummel Funeral Home, 48 N Broad Mountain Ave., Frackville. Relatives and friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

Gloria Bouch
, 75, of Hometown, PA, passed away Saturday, August 9th, at her residence.

Gloria was born in Hazleton, on July 24, 1950, a daughter of the late Lucy (Fazio) and Harvey McAfee.

Graduated from Hazleton Area High School class of 1969.

Beloved Mom , Mam Mam and Great Mam Mam. She loved her family and furbabies Jack and Jill . She loved to draw. She was a great history buff, she loved to learn everything about Egypt. One of her favorite movies was The Mummy. She loved music, especially the Beatles . She also loved animals and wildlife especially racoons and Tigers. She was a beautiful soul inside and out .

She was the wife of Jacob Bouch.

Gloria is survived by two daughters, Margie, wife of James Minahan, of Mahanoy Plane; Stacy, wife of Matthew Malinowski, of Turkey Run.

She is also survived by 5 Grandchildren, Stephen, Michelle, Zack Justin and Noella, 2 Great Grandchildren, Arianna and Zander. Nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her first husband Stephen Honusefsky and a brother Harvey.

Funeral Service at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Mahanoy City, PA, at 11 AM on Friday, August 15th, with Reverend Jack Murray officiating.

Mary F. Eckert
, 81, of Pottsville, passed away Monday, August 11th, at Orwigsburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Orwigsburg.

Born in Pottsville on August 14, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth (Lawrence) and Thomas J. Campion.

She was the wife of the late Robert J. Eckert, Sr.

She was of the Catholic Faith.

Mary was employed as a machine operator at Millers, Port Carbon.

Mary is survived by three sons: Robert Eckert, Jr., of Bellefonte; Mark Eckert, husband of Tara, of Pottsville; Steven Eckert, husband of Amy, of Pottsville; grandchildren: Mark Eckert, Jr., Kayla Eckert, & Rachel Eckert; a brother, Thomas “Gene” Eugene Campion, husband of Catherine, of Chambersburg, PA; several nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.

Services and interment will be private at the family’s convenience.

Rhoda M. Daubert
, 92, of Pine Grove, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025 in Providence Place, Pine Grove.

Born on July 12, 1933 in Pine Grove, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Della Kerstetter Spittler.

She was a 1951 graduate of Pine Grove High School.

Rhoda was a member of the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, Pine Grove where she was a Deaconess, member of Ladies Aid and a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She had also been a member of TOPS.

Rhoda loved crocheting and cooking, whether it was for the church or family.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 70 years, William Ronald Daubert in 2024; and three brothers, Aaron James "Jim" Spittler, Richard Spittler, and Thomas Spittler.

Surviving are two daughters, Rhonda and husband Ernest Spittler of Pine Grove, Anne and husband Dennis West of Blandon; four sons, Dean and wife Brenda Daubert of Batavia, N.Y., Dennis and wife Sharon Daubert, Ronald Ray and wife Melanie Daubert, Allen and wife Ann Daubert, all of Pine Grove; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; a brother Connie Spittler of Montoursville; a sister Phyllis Smith of Mechanicsburg; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Noon at the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, 347 Sweet Arrow Lake Rd., Pine Grove with Michael Barnhart officiating. There will be a viewing on Monday, August 18, 2025 from 10:30 A.M. until Noon at the Church. Interment will follow in the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to either the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, c/o Lois Lehman, 26 Pine Hill Rd., Pine Grove PA 17963 or the Brown Swiss Historical Society, c/o Dr. Roger Neitzel, Brown Swiss Association, 800 Pleasant Street, Beloit, WI 53511-5456 in her memory.

Janice D Scheib, age 96, of Hegins, passed away Friday, August 8, 2025 at her residence.

She was born on Thursday, December 13, 1928, in Valley View, a daughter of the late Norman Otto and the late Mildred (Straub) Otto.

She was a 1946 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

Janice was a seamstress in area garment factories prior to her retirement.

She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins.

Janice enjoyed puzzles, reading, camping, needle point, and spending time with her family. She and her late husband spent great years in Dunnellon Florida.

Her husband, Donald R Scheib, passed away in 2017. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, George Otto and Jack Otto.

She is survived by three sons, Keith D (Penny) Scheib of Pageland, SC, Fred E (Sharon) Scheib of Panama City, FL, and Eric J (Catherine) Scheib of Harrisburg; a daughter, Polly A (Daniel) Bolich of Sacramento; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; a sister, Judith Huntzinger of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins, on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Lee Diefenderfer officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday at the church.

Burial of both Janice and her late husband Donald will follow the service in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins.

Memorial contributions can be made to Friedens Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 375, Hegins, PA 17938.

Richard Light, 82, of Tamaqua, died on Saturday, August 9, 2025, in Hometown. He was the husband of the late Janice (Krell) Light, to whom he had been married for 21 years at the time of her death in 1993.

Born in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, Richard was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Tonkin) Light. A 1960 graduate of Tamaqua High School, he was a 1962 graduate of McCann School of Business and earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Maywood College.

Richard was employed for many years as an accountant at Fanelli Trucking in Pottsville. He loved his dogs and enjoyed adopting them from the Hillside SPCA to give them a better life.

Richard began playing organ in junior high school, and it became a lifelong love; the topic of organs and playing organ at church often came up in conversations. He was the organist for several area churches, including St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tamaqua, from 1979-2013; St. Paul United Church of Christ, Mahanoy City, for fifteen years; St. John Slovak Lutheran Church, Lansford, for six years; and Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tamaqua, for ten months. He was of the Lutheran faith.

Richard is survived by two nieces, Cheryl Nemeth and her husband Paul of Tamaqua, and Crystal Kachelries of Ohio; two grandnephews, The Reverend Joshua Nemeth and his wife Francesca, and Jack Nemeth; a great-grandnephew, Levi Nemeth; and a great-grandniece, Adeline Nemeth.

Richard was predeceased by his wife Janice, who was the love of his life, and a sister, Joy Ann Kachelries.

Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 15, 2025, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 Mauch Chunk Street, Tamaqua, with The Rev. Dillon Epler officiating. Interment at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Tamaqua will follow the services. Call from 9–11 AM on Friday at the church.

Robert T. Bobarsky, 89, of Shenandoah, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Broad Mountain Health and Rehabilitation Center in Frackville.

Born in Shenandoah on April 6, 1936, he was the son of the late Theodore and Mary (Sukotsky) Bobarsky.

Robert was a 1954 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked in various places as a laborer, and when he wasn’t working, he enjoyed going golfing.

Besides his parents, Robert was preceded by his 2 brothers, John J. Sukotsky and Theodore C. Bobarsky II.

His surviving family includes 3 nephews- Ted (Patricia) Bobarsky of Tennessee, Joseph (Zena) Bobarsky of Illinois, and Ronald (Beverly) Bobarsky of Illinois, his niece- Joanne (Paul) Weikel of Ashland, along with 7 great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 15th at 10:30am in the Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights and will be officiated by Msgr. Ronald Bocian.

The Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, Shenandoah are entrusted with the arrangements.

It is with a heavy heart that the family of John S. Tym -aka “Timmi’, 100 years old, of Shenandoah, Pa, announces his passing on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the Shenandoah Manor Nursing Home.

John was born on April 23, 1925, at the former Locust Mountain Hospital. He was the last WWII Veteran of Shenandoah. He joined the Navy as a signalman on the LSM from 1943 – 1946, where he landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy during the D-Day Invasion. He married Eleanor mack on April 24, 1949. They were married 60 years.

He is survived by 4 sons- Johnny Tym with his wife Marianne, Richard Tym with his wife Debbie, Michael Tym with his wife Fannie, and Joseph Tym with his fiancé Michele English- all of Shenandoah, 2 daughters- Susan Wargo of Frackville and Nancy Palek of Shenandoah, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife- Eleanor Tym and his daughter- Diane Tym.

He was employed by Black Diamond Wholesale, Purolator, Mrs. T’s, and was the former owner of Tym’s Market on West Centre St, in Shenandoah until his retirement. He was a member of St. Casimir’s Church, the Lith’s Club, Park Crest Fish and Game Club, a lifetime member of the Polish American Fire Company, the Amvets, the Moose Lodge, and the Eagles, and was President of The Hairy Canaries. He ran trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas, was an avid bowler and dart shooter in which he had several trophies. As well as playing softball, he loved going to the casino, telling jokes, and making others laugh. Above all else, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather, but mostly, just a loving and caring man.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 15th from 9 to 11am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Scripture services will be conducted at 11am by Msgr. Ronald Bocian. Burial with military honors will follow services in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
