John Tiley Stiles Sr.,
86 of West West Terrace, passed from this earth Thursday August 7, 2025 out of the blue into the black.

Born in Pottsville January 2, 1939 he was a son of the late John J. and Emily (Tiley) Stiles. He was a 1956 graduate of Pottsville Area High School. He served in the US Air Force from 1956-1960. John then went on to federal employment as a Planner and Estimator for the US Coast Guard, Production Controller at Ft. Indiantown Gap and finally Director of Public works at Indiantown Gap.

A devoted father he was a Coach for Little League baseball; Youth and Teener Basketball ; Girls CYO Softball and Youth Soccer. He enjoyed good times at family gatherings and vacations.

He was an Active member of the Pottsville Chapter of Retired Federal Employees; Mt. Valley Sr. Golf League.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Michelle Kimmell; Grandson John T. Stiles III; Sisters Patricia Wolff and Diane Tobias.

Surviving are his beloved wife Carolynne (Wentz) Stiles; Sons John Stiles Jr. of Port Carbon; Brian Stiles and his wife Kelly of MD; Daughter Rachel Stiles of Philadelphia; Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon Thursday July 14, 2025 from Dutcavich Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 200 Sunbury St. Minersville, PA 17954. Rev. Jojappa Adagatla will be officiating. Friends may call from 11:00Am-Noon at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus #2 Cemetery, Minersville.

Albert M. Sands
, 73, a resident of West Cherry Street , Shenandoah, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 5th, 2025 at his home.

Al was born in Shenandoah on July 7, 1952, a son of the late Albert and Florence (Wiekrykas) Sands. At Shenandoah Valley High School, he was known as one of the area's top athletes, excelling in all sports. He was a graduate of East Stroudsburg University, and taught Physical-Education for the Shenandoah Valley School District. After his teaching career, he worked in the family business, Sands Restaurant, better known locally as Sandsy's.

Al led a full life, making lots of friends along the way no matter where he was or what he was doing. He was an avid golfer throughout his lifetime, and a huge fan of Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils Athletics.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ann.

He is survived by his children, Ryan Sands (Nicole), Florida; Michael Sands (Alexandria) ,Pottsville; Nicholas Sands (Stephanie), Frackville and Mariah Sterner of Frackville. Seven grandchildren survive, Tyler, Jacob, Leighton, Addison, Tanner, Brantley and Priscilla. He is also survived by a brother Roy Sands and a sister Mary Chatkiewicz, along with nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Scripture Service which will be held on August 18th, 2025 at 7 PM at the Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah.

James “Jim” R. Gallagher and Darlene Gallager, husband and wife of San Antonio TX formerly of Ashland will have graveside services on August 13, 2025 at 12:00 at Christ Church Cemetery in Fountain Springs (Ashland).

Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home Inc / Shawn E. Clark FD, 901 Centre St, Ashland PA 17921 has been entrusted with the arrangements.

James A. Minchhoff, Sr.
, 88 of Pottsville, died Thursday at Phoebe Health & Nursing Center, Allentown.

He was born April 12, 1937, in Pottsville a son of the late Joseph P. and Olive Stoyer Minchhoff.

He was a graduate of the last senior class from Pottsville Catholic High School in 1955. He was also a graduate of LaSalle University.

He was a veteran of the Army during the cold war period.

Prior to retiring, he was the Controller for the former United Metal, Pottsville.

Jim was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville and was a life member of Good Will Hose Co., Pottsville.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Clara Minchhoff, Joseph Minchhoff Jr., Amelia Androsko, Loretta Sababday, Philip Minchhoff, Joanne Schwartz, and Mary LeBlanc.

Surviving are his daughters, Sabrinia Liddle and her husband Mark, Pottsville; Ashley Costello and her husband Dr. Brian, Macungie; a son, James A. Minchhoff, Jr., Schuylkill Haven, 4 grandchildren, Connor and Emily Costello; Callen and Henry Liddle; a sister Margaret Pauly, Pottsville; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11AM Saturday, August 16th at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, with Rev. Kevin J. Bobbin as celebrant. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 8:30-10:30AM at the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors will be held in St. John No. 2 Cemetery, Pottsville.
