WEST MAHANOY TOWNSHIP – A routine traffic stop in Schuylkill County led to and the discovery of illegal weapons earlier this summer.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, troopers stopped a silver Chevrolet sedan around 12:01 p.m. on July 3, 2025, after observing the vehicle cross the double yellow line twice while traveling east on Frackville Industrial Road. The driver, later identified as 53-year-old Gregory John Williams, of Ashland, was found to have an active bench warrant issued by the Schuylkill County Detective’s Office for a prior DUI case.
Police say Williams failed to produce a driver’s license, registration, or proof of insurance during the stop. A records check confirmed his identity and the outstanding warrant. He was detained at the scene, and the vehicle was towed.
During an inventory search of the car, troopers discovered a pair of metal knuckles in the driver’s side door compartment. The weapon was seized and logged as evidence.
Williams was transported to the PSP Frackville barracks for processing and later turned over to the Schuylkill County Prison. Williams was charged on September 11th, 2025, with possession of a prohibited offensive weapon (M1) and driving on roadways laned for traffic (summary offense).
