Man Charged in Domestic Assault in North Union Township

NORTH UNION TOWNSHIP – A man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges following a domestic incident earlier this month in Schuylkill County.
Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville charged 37-year-old Casey D. Nowak, in connection with an alleged assault that occurred on September 1, 2025, at a home on Arapahoe Lane in North Union Township.

According to police, Nowak engaged in a violent altercation with a woman during a domestic argument while she was holding their two-month-old child.

Troopers said the argument began around 2:00 p.m. on September 1 after the victim returned home. During the dispute, Casey allegedly blocked her from leaving, grabbed her by the throat, pushed her against a door, and choked her for about 10 seconds before striking her with a closed fist. The victim told police she fell to the floor while holding the infant.

Police say Casey then pulled the child from her arms, went outside, and again attacked her—choking her and striking her in the face. The victim told investigators she informed Casey she couldn’t breathe, to which he allegedly responded, “that’s the point.”

The victim was eventually able to free herself, recover the child, and leave the residence. She sought medical attention the following day. Doctors at St. Joseph Medical Center diagnosed her with a right eye contusion, back contusion, concussion without loss of consciousness, and injuries consistent with manual strangulation.

As a result of the investigation, PSP Frackville filed charges against Casey Nowak, including:
  • Strangulation – Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck (F2)
  • Endangering Welfare of Children (F3)
  • Simple Assault (M2)
  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person (M2)
  • Harassment (Summary)
Nowak was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli and released on $50,000 unsecured bail pending further court proceedings.
