
A man from Ashland is behind bars after Pennsylvania State Police responded to a domestic incident on Sunday evening.
According to court documents, Dennis R. Dormer, 54, of Ashland, was charged with Aggravated Assault (F1), Simple Assault (M2), and Harassment (S) following a reported domestic disturbance at an apartment along West Centre Street in the borough.
Troopers from the Frackville Barracks were dispatched around 8:34 p.m. on November 9, 2025, to 16 West Centre Street, for a report of a domestic in progress. A neighbor contacted police after hearing a woman shouting and crying for help inside the apartment.
Upon arrival, troopers made contact with Dormer, who denied any disturbance and consented to officers entering the residence. Inside, troopers found the victim crying and holding a bloody tissue.
Police noted the victim had severe injuries, including a swollen and closed right eye, bruising on both sides of her face, a bloody nose, and bleeding lips. She told police Dormer accused her of infidelity and then struck her several times in the face with a closed fist.
Washington Fire Company EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to Lehigh Valley Hospital–East Pottsville for further evaluation and treatment. Dormer was taken into custody without incident at the scene.
He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli and committed to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $50,000 straight cash bail.
