The collapse occurred around 8:15 p.m. at 421 East Market Street, when the vacant, crumbling structure gave way and fell into the roadway and on top of a contractor's van.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash as much of the home’s front portion collapsed toward Market Street.
The property, which had been visibly deteriorating for several years, had been a concern among neighbors and passersby.
By approximately 10:00 p.m., borough and emergency personnel had pushed most of the debris back onto the property, allowing Market Street to reopen to traffic. No injuries were reported in the incident.
According to the Schuylkill County Parcel Locator, the property is owned by EP Home Improvement Corp.
Borough officials are expected to assess the site for further safety hazards and determine what steps will be required to secure or demolish the remaining structure.
