The holiday season in Shenandoah will once again kick off in spectacular fashion as Mrs. T’s Pierogies holds its 18th Skydiving Santa celebration on Friday, November 28, at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
A community tradition, the event annually draws families from across Schuylkill County eager to watch Santa make his dramatic entrance—parachuting into the stadium, weather permitting.
This year’s festivities begin when the gates open at 10:30 a.m. for families to enjoy holiday activities, meet festive characters, and get into the Christmas spirit. The first 200 children under age 12 will receive a free gift courtesy of Mrs. T’s Pierogies.
Mrs. Claus, Frosty the Snowman, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer are scheduled to greet children, pose for photos, and add a little Christmas magic throughout the stadium. Santa’s elves will also be on hand offering free face painting.
Concessions will be available through the Shenandoah Valley School District Band Boosters.
At 12:00 p.m., and dependent on weather conditions, Santa is expected to parachute from the sky into Veterans Memorial Stadium. Should winds or visibility make skydiving unsafe, Santa will instead arrive by helicopter or firetruck.
Following his arrival, Santa will lead a parade through Shenandoah, accompanied by local fire companies and the Shenandoah Police Department, eventually stopping at Borough Hall to greet residents and spread holiday cheer.
