Curtis L. Freed, 70, of Pottsville, passed away Thursday, November 6th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, Allentown.

Curt was born in Pottsville on January 4, 1955, a son of Lee D. & Joyce (Oswald) Freed, of Orwigsburg.

He was the widower of Joanna (Minnig) Freed who passed away, December 14, 2014.

He is also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Tom McCarthy.

Curt was a Schuylkill Haven High School graduate and was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven.

He was the owner and operator of Freed's Flowers, Schuylkill Haven from 1991, until his retirement in March, 2022.

Curt was a member of the Schuylkill Haven Rotary Club, Schuylkill Golf League, and the East Ward Social Club, Schuylkill Haven.

He is survived by two sons: Michael Freed, husband of Kelly, of Schuylkill Haven; & Bryan Freed, husband of Kristen, of Pottsville, four grandchildren: Zachary, Hannah, Norah, & Miles, two sisters: Leslie Freed, of Tuscon, AZ, & Cyndi McCarthy, companion of Frank Henry, of Schuylkill Haven, his companion, Linda Herb, of Auburn, and several nieces & nephews.

A viewing will be held at Geschwindt Stabingas Ebling Funeral Home, Inc., Schuylkill Haven, on Thursday, November 13th from 6-8 PM.

An additional viewing will be held Friday, November 14th from 9:30 AM until the time of service at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven. The funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Matthew Carpenter at the church at 10:30 AM.

Interment will be privately held.

The family requests contributions in Curt's memory be made to Schuylkill Haven Rotary Club, 319 East Union Street, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.

Kenneth P. Petusky, 53, of Shenandoah, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at his residence.

Born in Philadelphia on August 28, 1972, he was the son of the late John “Jack” Petusky and his surviving mother- Sandy (Pukavige) Petusky.

Other surviving family includes his brother Jack Petusky Jr. with Julie Petershein, his niece Olivia, along with aunts and uncles.

Private graveside services will be conducted at the convenience of the family.

Michael J. Metchock, 71, of Cressona, formerly of Frackville and Mahanoy City passed away Saturday November 8, 2025 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, Allentown.

Born in Pottsville, February 8, 1954, He was a son of the late Michael Metchock and Rosemarie (Spaniard) Metchock.

He attended North Schuylkill Schools and was a graduate of IU #29 Mar Lin.

Michael worked at several area factories. He was a Lifetime member of Good Will Fire Co Frackville; Altamont Fire CO W. Mahanoy Twp.; Friendship Fire Company, Englewood; and Pennsylvania Fireman’s Association.

He was of the Catholic Faith.

Surviving are sister Janet Cavenas of Mahanoy City; Aunt Jean Chuposka; Nephew Anthony Cavenas; Niece Nicole Dresher; Cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30AM Thursday November 13, 2025 from Nice- Hart Funeral Home, Inc, 9 North Lehigh Avenue Frackville, PA 17931 with The Rev. William Glosser officiating. Friends may call from 8:30-10:30 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Goodwill Fire Co.,225 S. Balliet St. Frackville, PA 17931. Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery , Annville at a later date.

Richard D. “Rooster” Fessler
, 73, of N. Pine St., Tremont, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

Born on August 15, 1952 in Summit Station, he was a son of the late George S. and Dorothy M. Freeman Fessler.

He was a 1970 graduate of Blue Mountain High School.

Richard was a United States Army Veteran and served from July 28, 1970 to July 27, 1978, having been deployed to Vietnam during the war. He then was a member of the National Guard from 1974-1978. He served with the 1st Cavalry 67th Armored Battery A, Turret Gunner and the 9th Infantry Div Company A Combat Medic.

He was a Truck Driver and worked for Felty Trucking in Pine Grove from 1977-2020.

He was a member of St. Peter's UCC, Tremont, Little Run Sportsman Club, Tremont, the Pine Grove American Legion Post 374, Pine Grove VFW Post 3432, Pine Grove Fish and Game Assoc., North End Fire Company, Valley View Fun Club, Pine Grove H.H. & L. Co. No. 1, and the Roedersville Game and Fish Assoc.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 30 years, Carol Koppenhaver Fessler, four brothers, Arnold, Dennis, Marlin, and Tedford Fessler, and a sister, Doris Fessler.

Surviving are two sons, Parrish Fessler and Richard Fessler, Jr.; one daughter, Melissa Dietrick; one step-daughter, Jill Zimmerman; five grandchildren, Tommy Fessler, Emily Fessler, Ashley Fessler, Bryce Campbell, and Chase Campbell; a sister, Karen Harley; a brother, Lawrence Fessler; nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services and interment will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at the German Reformed Cemetery, Tremont with Pastor David Fehr officiating. There will be a viewing on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove.

Robert J. Brennan, 80, of Elysburg, former Girardville resident, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025. Born in the former Ashland Hospital, June 9, 1945, he was the son of the late James and Sarah (Green) Brennan. He was a graduate of the former Ashland High School, class of 1965. Bob had been employed for the Prestolite Battery Company, Reading, Fleetwood Motor Homes of Elysburg, as a fabricator, and lastly as a truck driver for the Burns Coal Company of Girardville, until his retirement. He was an avid Phillies fan, enjoyed deer hunting, and spending time with his family. Preceding him in death was his wife Carol (Fertig) Brennan, passing May 14, 2013, sisters; Sarah Weyman, Betty and Irene Weikel, also, brothers; James, Thomas, Joseph, John, Richard, Raymond, and Mike “Mickey” Brennan.

Relatives and friends are invited to Celebrate Bob’s Life, Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 11 AM, in the Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre St, Ashland. Celebration Bob’s Life will be Rev. Dana Heckman Beil, pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Ashland. Internment will follow in Saint Joseh’s Cemetery, Fountain Springs. A viewing will begin at 9:30 AM.
