Michelena C. “Mickey” Catizone
, 100, lifelong Girardville resident, passed away peacefully Tuesday at Shenandoah Senior Living Community, Shenandoah.

Born in Girardville, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Concetta Fulginiti Catizone. She was a beautician and owner of Mickey’s Beauty Shop, Girardville. Mickey worked as a beautician since 1945 and continued to work until well into her 80’s.

She was a faithful member of the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in which she sang in the choir for several years, now is a member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish. She was a member of the Red Hats, member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Cecelia and a member of the Business and Professional Association, all of Girardville.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by five brothers; Paneteleona, Peter, Anthony, Joseph and Vincent Catizone, her sister Concetta Hennessy and her lifelong companion Al Hnastion.

Mickey is survived by her brother John and his wife Diane Catizone, Lost Creek, her sisters; Marian Kleeman, Girardville, Rosemary Zelli, King of Prussia, Jean Ann wife of Joseph Kessler, Girardville and Elizabeth wife of Harold Burns, TN. Also by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Girardville. Friends may call at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville, on Sunday evening from 5 until 7 P.M. and again on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30. Interment will be in St. Josephs Cemetery, Ft. Springs.

Lawrence Joseph Haffey, 79, formerly of Palo Alto, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, November 8, 2025 at Providence Place, Pottsville, where he has been a resident for several years.

Born In Palo Alto January 28, 1946, Larry was the son of Lawrence J. and Josephine Gerace Haffey, Sr. He was a graduate of Nativity BVM Class of 1963. Shortly after graduating Highschool Larry, a Vietnam veteran, enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he held the rank of Seaman.

On June 16, 1973, Lawrence married Sharon Ann Kline, and together they shared 52 years of marriage.

Following his military service, Lawrence was employed by the Hamburg State Center where he was a Residential Service Supervisor, retiring in June 2004. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville. Larry with his wife, enjoyed Broadway shows and Motown Music, and spending time with their grandchildren. They enjoyed many bus trips with the Trinity Senior Travelers together.

In addition to his wife, Lawrence is survived by his son, Scott Haffey, and wife Amanda, Grandson's Colin and Shane Haffey, Philadelphia, PA; Brother in Law: James Kline, Pottstown, PA; Sister in Law: Nancy Paup, New Berlinville, PA

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a funeral service at 10AM on Wednesday Nov. 19 2025, from Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, with Pastor Chris Rotharpt officiating. A visitation will be held form 930am until time of service at the church. Interment with military honors will follow at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Memorial donations in Larry’s name may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 W Arch St, Pottsville, PA 17901.

Judith Ann Kuperavage
, 77, of Tuscarora, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025, with her beloved husband of 58 years, Ronald J. "Butchy" Kuperavage by her side

Born in Coaldale on Tuesday, February 3, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Douglas and Esther (Bridyham) Davies.

Judy was a graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, Judy dedicated many years of her career as a secretary to the Superintendent at the school district. She also applied her skills to assist her husband, "Butchy," with the bookkeeping for their businesses, Tuscarora Mining and Bell Corporation.

Judy and Butch were best friends who shared a life full of mutual interests. They cherished their time camping at Thousand Trails in Hershey and enjoyed polka and country line dancing. Knowing Judy loved to dance, Butch bought her her own ballroom, "Lakeside Ballroom" in Barnesville. A stunning Duo, Butch and Judy proudly hosted many events, donating the use of the hall so many local organizations could prosper. Judy took full control of the hall operations.Judy's close friend Kathy Patterson introduced her to quilting, encouraging her to join the Schuylkill County Quilters Guild. Judy made many quilts entering some in the Schuylkill County Fair where she won a number of awards.

In addition to Butch, Judy is also survived by; her brother, Joseph Kuhn and his wife Dorene; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Private Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 655 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252.

Interment took place at Sky-View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.

Ann G. Bichteman, 96, of Pottsville, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, November 12th, at her caretaker’s residence.

Born in Feura Bush, NY on September 13, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Maria (Harz) and Richard Hack, Sr.

Ann was the widow of Albert Bichteman who passed away in 1996.

She was a graduate of Greenville Central High School, New York.

Ann was employed at Soloman Brothers, worked for 50 years as a secretary at Felty Oil, and worked at Liberty Oil Co. for a short while.

She was a member of Bible Tabernacle Church, Schuylkill Haven.

Ann is survived by a daughter, Rene Bichteman, of Orwigsburg and a son, F. Cristian Bichteman, husband of Bonnie, of South Carolina. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and her dearest friend of 43 years, Brenda Somers of Pottsville.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ann is preceded in death by a son, Randy Bichteman; a daughter, Charyl Williams; brothers, Alfred, Richard, & Edward Hack; and a sister, Helen Zolko.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, November 24th at Bible Tabernacle Church, Schuylkill Haven. A viewing will be held from 10 AM until the beginning of the service. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Dorothy “Dot” (Wicofsky) Llewellyn,
86, formerly of Frackville, PA, passed away Thursday November 13, 2025 at Providence Place, Pottsville.

Born in Primrose, August 11, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Enoch and Mary (Starzetski) Witcofsky.

Dot was a proud graduate of Cass Township High School, Class of 1957; at which their football team, the Condors, were undefeated, untied, and unscored upon that season.

She attended the Pottsville School of Nursing and was active in her children’s lives as a cheerleading advisor, volleyball coach, class trip chaperone; chauffer or whatever else her children volunteered her to be.

She later went on to be a partner in Llewellyn’s Service Center, Lavelle before working at Hollander Home Fashions, Frackville and North Schuylkill High School

She was of the Catholic faith and was a long time parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic church of Frackville.

Dot loved spending time with her family and traveling. She enjoyed time spent at Moon Lake (Formerly Bury’s Grove) at her sister Helen’s cabin; traveling to all 50 states, as well as abroad

In addition to her parents,she was preceded in death by her infant daughter Denise in 1960; brothers Edward, John and William “Racker” Witcofsky; sisters Martha Feryo; Helen Tobin and Mary “Betty” Coleman; son-in-law Daniel Klauger.

Surviving are her children Jo-Anne Klauger of Allentown; Annette VanSickle and her husband David of Denver CO; Elaine Mickatavage and her husband Brian of Ashland; Todd Llewellyn and his wife Kelly Miller of Merritt Island, FL; grandchildren Jared and Megan Llewellyn; Julia and Noah VanSickle; Dustin Koppenhaver and his wife Autumn; great grandson Hudson; many nieces an nephews.

A Celebration of life will be held at a later date. Dutcavich Funeral Home & Cremation Care Inc. Minersville is entrusted with arrangements.

Elizabeth “Betty” (Hannis) Buchinsky
, 91, of Philadelphia, passed away on October 20, 2025, at Neshaminy Manor in Warrington, Pa.

Born on December 5, 1933, in Shenandoah, Betty was the daughter of the late Michael and Clara (Tomchick) Hannis.

Betty worked for many years as a receptionist at Temple University in Philadelphia.

Besides her parents, Betty was preceded by her husband Alfred “Al” Buchinsky in 2020, along with her two brothers- Tom and Emil Hannis.

The surviving family includes her son David Buchinsky with his wife Diane of Philadelphia, her daughter Beth McMullen with her husband David of Jacksonville, FL, her brother Ray Hannis with his wife Faustina, 6 grandchildren- Kimberly with Paul, Alison with Marc, Emily with Anthony, Steven with Kelly, Andrew, and Ian, and one great grandson – Alfred Jackson (AJ), along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will take place on Thursday, November 20th from 8:30am to 10:00am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am in Divine Mercy Parish, 218 W. Cherry St, Shenandoah, and will be officiated by Msgr. Ronald Bocian. Burial will immediately follow in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Anthony L. "Tony" Roman
, 86, of Union Court, Pine Grove, passed away peacefully at home on November 12, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer and dementia.

Born on November 19, 1938 in Pine Grove, he was the only child of the late Anthony and Emily Schwartz Roman.

Tony was a 1956 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School and attended Central Penn Business School in Harrisburg.

He worked in sales and was co-owner of Zimmerman Advertising in Harrisburg.

His passion was horse racing. He claimed and lost many horses and enjoyed racing them on tracks all over the East Coast. He was most proud of his horse Who's Bluffing, who won numerous races and held the track record for time at Penn National Race Course.

An avid walker, he enjoyed daily walks at Bubeck Park in Schuylkill Haven until he was unable to do so. He enjoyed weekly games of pinochle at the Schuylkill Haven Sr. Center and at the Lodge in Lake Wynonah. He belonged to two Volks marchers clubs in the area- The Susquehanna Rovers and Liberty Bell Wanderers.

Surviving are his family, Jane Krammes Spink, Suellen Spink, and several cousins.

There will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made in his memory to Suellen's workplace with Avenues, Lessie's Garden and Greenhouse, 2 Park St. Pottsville, PA 17901 or Team Schuylkill Special Olympics, 2158 Ave. C., Suite 201, Bethlehem, PA 18017.

Jane and Suellen want to thank the nurses and aides with Lehigh Valley Hospice for their dedicated and compassionate care, especially Debra, Jocelyn and Liz.

Tony will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Suellen truly believes he is living happily in Red Neck Heaven.

Timothy A. See
, 62, of Lakefront Dr., Pine Grove, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at home.

Born on October 16, 1963 in Lebanon, he was a son of the late Warren Allen Kessler and Louise M. Gogets See.

He was a machine operator for Solar Innovations, Pine Grove.

Timothy was a member of the Echo Valley Grace Brethren Church, Tremont where he was on the finance and Search Committees and was in charge of making breakfast for mens fellowship.

In addition to being very involved in his church, Timothy had a passion for the outdoors. He loved his children and grandchildren and they meant the world to him.

Surviving are two sons, Timothy See, Jr. of Pine Grove, Evan and wife Jade Flory of Shillington; two daughters, Melissa See of Allentown, Jessica and husband Charles Frick of Kansas; seven grandchildren, Jose Bracero, Alexys Rosario, Ian Flory, Karma See, Parker Flory, Archer Flory, and Warren See; two brothers, Warren Kessler, Jr. of Jonestown, Randolph See of Robesonia; a sister Linda See of W.V.; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 5:00 P.M. at Echo Valley Grace Brethren Church, 46 Tremont Rd., Tremont, PA with Pastor Christopher Laughlin officiating. There will be a viewing on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 3:30 P.M. until 5:00 P.M at the Church. Graveside services and Interment will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 1:00 P.M at Berks County Memorial Gardens, 201 Evansville Rd., Fleetwood, PA.

Ellen Irene Miller
, 93, of S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, went to be with God and her husband, Alvin "Fox" on Thursday, November 13, 2025 in the Tremont Health & Rehab Center.

Born on November 12, 1932 in Pine Grove, she was the daughter of the late Richard M. and Ellen K. Zimmerman Doran.

She was a 1952 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School.

Ellen worked at the former Fox Knapp Mfg., Pine Grove.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove where she had taught Sunday School. She also had been a girl scout leader and enjoyed being outdoors.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 56 years, Alvin A. Miller; and two brothers, Richard W. and Kenneth E. Doran.

Surviving are a sister, Barbara Doran; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove with Rev. Marie Meeks officiating. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 from 12:30 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove.

Thomas M. Brinchek, 74, of McAdoo, passed away on Thursday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.

Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the Late Anthony and Mary (Bochak) Brinchek.

Thomas was a member of All Saints Church, McAdoo.

Prior to retiring, he was employed as a Machine Operator-Group Leader at Consolidated Cigar, McAdoo.

Thomas was a former bartender at the McAdoo American Legion. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed tending to his garden.

Preceding him in death were his brother, Joseph Brinchek and sister, Sylvia Goodwich.

Surviving are his brother, John Brinchek of North Carolina; nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Taz.

Funeral services will be held privately. No calling hours will be held.

The Damiano Funeral Home Inc., McAdoo, is assisting the family.
