Schuylkill County will begin selling 2026 dog licenses on Monday, December 1, 2025.
The County Treasurer’s Office is reminding residents that Pennsylvania law requires all dogs two months of age or older to be licensed each year.
Dog license applications are available on the county website at schuylkillcountypa.gov, in the Schuylkill County Treasurer’s Office, and at participating veterinarian offices.
Annual licenses may also be purchased by phone or online at padoglicense.com, where a $2 online processing fee will be applied per dog.
License Fees for 2026
The cost of an annual dog license will increase for the 2026 licensing year:
- Regular License: $10.70
- Senior/Disabled: $8.70
Lifetime licenses are available for dogs that have been microchipped or tattooed. These licenses require a permanent identification verification form completed by a veterinarian or kennel. Lifetime licenses can only be purchased in person at the County Treasurer’s Office.
- Regular Lifetime License: $52.70
- Senior/Disabled Lifetime License: $36.70
Senior discounts apply to residents 65 years of age or older, and disabled discounts require verification of disability. Applicants using a P.O. Box for online purchases must also provide a physical address.
Purpose of Licensing
A dog license provides a reliable way to identify pets and assist in returning lost dogs to their owners. The phone number for the Schuylkill County Treasurer’s Office is printed on the back of each annual dog tag. Dog license fees contribute to animal control services, shelter operations, and enforcement efforts that help protect both animals and the public.
Where to Purchase
In addition to the county website and the Treasurer’s Office, several authorized agents throughout Schuylkill County will offer annual dog licenses for 2026. A list of approved agents can be found at schuylkillcountypa.gov.
Licenses will no longer be sold at Warren Lane in Ashland or the Ruth Steinert SPCA in Pine Grove.
