Police say Jared Krise, 33, of Shenandoah, faces multiple charges including felony fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, misdemeanor flight to avoid apprehension, possession of a controlled substance, driving without a license, and driving at an unsafe speed.
According to the criminal complaint, the incident occurred around 9:26 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, when an Office Hysock on stationary patrol in the 100 block of South Main Street observed Krise driving a black Nissan Rogue northbound. Hysock, familiar with Krise from prior encounters, was aware that he did not have a valid driver’s license and was wanted on a bench warrant for failure to appear.
The officer initiated a traffic stop on Ringtown Boulevard near Washington Street, but police say Krise ignored commands to exit the vehicle after being informed of the warrant. Instead, he allegedly accelerated away, leading police on a high-speed pursuit through several borough streets.
The chase continued into Shenandoah Heights along Pennsylvania Avenue and Schuylkill Avenue before Krise turned onto Swatara Road and entered New Saint Casimir’s Cemetery at a high rate of speed. Police said the pursuit ended when Krise’s vehicle struck a large hump in the cemetery and became disabled.
When officers approached the vehicle, a brief struggle ensued before Krise was taken into custody with assistance from Captain Bowman. A search conducted by Captain Bowman reportedly uncovered two clear baggies containing a white powdery substance in Krise’s pocket, which later tested positive for fentanyl.
Krise was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli, who set bail at $50,000 straight cash. He was committed to Schuylkill County Prison.
