PPL Electric Utilities reports that significant progress has been made restoring power across Schuylkill County after strong winds left nearly 5,000 customers without electricity Wednesday night.
As of 9:15 a.m. Thursday, only 456 customers remain without power, according to PPL’s outage map. Crews have been working through the night to repair damaged lines and restore service to affected communities.

The hardest-hit areas Thursday morning include:
  • Wayne Township – 157 customers
  • West Penn Township – 82 customers
  • Hegins Township – 80 customers
  • Washington Township – 61 customers
Smaller numbers of outages remain scattered across the county:

Cass Township (24), North Union Township (15), Porter Township (18), Orwigsburg Borough (5), South Manheim Township (5), Tamaqua Borough (4), and single reports in Pine Grove and Ryan Townships.

PPL says crews will continue restoration work throughout the morning and urges residents to report any remaining outages or hazardous conditions through the company’s website or mobile app.

The National Weather Service has since lifted its wind advisory for the region, but residents are advised to remain cautious around any downed wires or debris until cleanup is complete.
