The Borough of Shenandoah has announced a structured, phased snow removal plan that will begin at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, as crews work to clear streets following the recent winter storm.
Borough Public Works crews, working in coordination with contracted snow removal companies, will push snow from side streets into primary roadways before removing it. Borough officials estimate that snow removal operations will take approximately five hours per street, depending on conditions.
Phase 1 – Begins Tuesday Morning
Phase 1 will begin on Main Street down West Centre Street to Boyer’s Market. This phase will include all alleyways and side streets that intersect with Main Street and West Centre Street within this area.
Once Phase 1 is completed, crews will move to:

Coal Street, including all intersecting side streets and alleyways

Lloyd Street, including all intersecting side streets
Phase 2 – Scheduled for Wednesday
Phase 2 of snow removal operations is scheduled for Wednesday and will include:

Cherry Street and all adjoining side streets

Oak Street and all adjoining side streets
Phase 3 – Weather Permitting
Phase 3 will include Main Street down East Centre Street to Bridge Street, along with all intersecting roads and alleyways. Borough officials hope to begin this phase on Wednesday morning, weather and field conditions permitting.
Officials stated that the borough’s goal is to continue clearing streets throughout Shenandoah until all roadways have had snow removed. The schedule may be adjusted based on progress and changing conditions.
Temporary Parking for Phase 1
To assist residents during Phase 1 operations, the Borough has coordinated with the Shenandoah Valley School District to allow temporary parking in the elementary school parking lot, located off Route 54 and West Centre Street.
This parking accommodation is for Tuesday’s snow removal operations only. All vehicles must be removed from the school parking lot no later than 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Garbage Collection Postponed
Garbage collection has been postponed until streets are accessible for sanitation trucks. Snow removal operations are expected to continue throughout the week. Borough officials stated that a separate announcement will be issued when garbage collection is scheduled to resume.
