Pine Grove Area Dominates Tulpehocken in Girls Basketball Matchup



PINE GROVE — Pine Grove Area turned in a commanding performance Saturday, rolling past Tulpehocken 51–11 in girls basketball action.
Entering the game with an 8–5 record, the Cardinals came out aggressively and quickly set the tone. Pine Grove jumped out to a 24–4 lead after the first quarter and continued to widen the gap, taking a 40–9 advantage into halftime. The defense clamped down even further in the third quarter, holding Tulpehocken scoreless while pushing the lead to 49–9. Pine Grove closed out the game with a 51–11 final.

Hollyn Sampson led all scorers with 22 points to pace Pine Grove’s offense. Callee Leffler added eight points, while Addy Reichert finished with six. Lainey Fidler scored five points, Kam Heming added three, and Kendra Umbenhauer, Meadow Umbenhauer, and Violet Verdensky each contributed two.

Tulpehocken, which entered the game at 3–7, was led by Molly Golburg with five points. Katelyn Kempe, Kaylee Weaver, and Kayla Kempe each scored two in the loss.

With the win, Pine Grove Area improves to 9–5 on the season. The Cardinals will return to action Monday night at home against Minersville Area.
