According to State Police, the incident occurred on December 27, 2025, at approximately 3:42 p.m.
Troopers were dispatched to the area of North Balliet Street and Catawissa Street in Frackville Borough for a report of terroristic threats.
Police say their investigation revealed that a 54-year-old woman was traveling northbound on State Route 61 in New Castle Township when the suspect, driving behind her, began waving an axe out the window of his vehicle.
As the victim approached a red light at Route 61 and Spring Street in Frackville Borough, the suspect reportedly exited his vehicle and approached the victim’s vehicle while holding the axe in the air.
The victim was able to flee the scene and travel to a safe location. The suspect then fled the area in an unknown direction.
The suspect is described as a white, non-Hispanic male, approximately 6 feet tall, with a “chunky” build, short dark hair, possibly facial hair, and wearing glasses.
The suspect’s vehicle is described as a white Kia SUV.
